HBO Max Unveils U.K. Release Date and Subscription Plans
HBO Max, the popular streaming service, has officially announced its U.K. launch date and subscription pricing, marking a significant milestone for viewers in the region.
Starting March 26, U.K. and Irish audiences will have access to a vast array of content from HBO, Warner Bros., Warner Bros. Television, DC Studios, and Max Originals. The platform offers four subscription tiers to cater to various preferences.
The ad-based tiers are priced at £4.99 and £5.99 per month, with the latter including downloads and recent releases. For those seeking an ad-free experience, the options are £9.99 and £14.99 per month, respectively. The premium package at £14.99 includes 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Atmos, where available. Additionally, TNT Sports will be available as a standalone service or an add-on for £30.99 per month.
Scripted series fans will be delighted with the lineup, featuring the entire first season of Noah Wyle's 'The Pitt,' both seasons of 'Euphoria,' and the highly anticipated 'House of the Dragon.' DC's 'Green Lantern' series, 'Lanterns,' will also make its debut. The library content includes iconic shows like 'Friends,' 'Succession,' 'The Sopranos,' and 'Game of Thrones.'
Looking ahead, viewers can expect Season 3 of 'Euphoria,' Season 2 of 'The Pitt,' and the much-awaited 'Harry Potter' series in 2027. Movies will also be available, though the most basic subscription tier won't include recent blockbuster releases like 'Sinners,' 'One Battle After Another,' 'Superman,' and 'A Minecraft Movie.'
TNT Sports will transition from the Discovery+ app to HBO Max upon launch, providing subscribers with access to soccer (including Premier League and UEFA Champions League), tennis (Grand Slams), cycling (Grand Tour), and the 2028 Olympic Games in L.A.
JB Perrette, president of global streaming at Warner Bros. Discovery, expressed excitement about the expansion, stating, 'After decades of captivating audiences in the U.K. and Ireland, it's thrilling to bring our content together on HBO Max and offer it directly to consumers.'
Andrew Georgiou, president of Warner Bros. Discovery U.K. and Ireland, emphasized the significance of this launch, saying, 'HBO Max will provide viewers with their favorite series and movies from HBO, Warner Bros., and DC Studios, along with premium sports from TNT Sports, all in one exceptional destination.'
The service will be accessible through the app, hbomax.com, and launch partners Sky and Amazon on various devices, including TVs, mobiles, and tablets. Pre-registration is available on the App Store and Google Play starting March 12.
HBO Max's journey began in the U.S. in 2020 and has since expanded across Latin America, Europe, and Asia, reaching over 110 territories worldwide.
